      1. Rider and Document Requirements

      • Identification: A copy or photo of your Passport or official ID is required. Some local shops may temporarily hold your physical passport or ID as a security guarantee, though digital/copies are preferred if available.
      • Driving License (for Motorized Bikes): A valid local driving license (such as SIM C in Indonesia) or an International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside your home country's car/motorcycle license is legally required.
      • Age Restrictions: Most rental companies require riders to be within a specific age range (commonly 18 to 71 years old).

      2. Payments and Deposits

      • Upfront Payment: Rental fees, delivery charges, and fuel costs are typically paid 100% in advance via cash, card, or online payment.
      • Security Deposits: Companies usually hold a refundable security deposit (in cash or card pre-authorization) to cover minor damages, traffic fines, or missing items.
      • Cancellation & Early Returns: Down payments and advance rentals are generally non-refundable if you cancel late or return the bike earlier than your scheduled drop-off date.

      3. Usage Rules and Restrictions

      • Geographic Limits: Vehicles are usually restricted to be used in Bali. Taking a bike off-island or across borders generally requires explicit written advance approval.
      • Road Types: Scooters and bikes are meant for paved roads only. Off-roading, beach/sand riding, or racing are strictly prohibited unless renting a specialized dirt bike.
      • No Subletting: The person who signs the agreement must be the primary rider. You cannot lend, sub-rent, or let unauthorized/unlicensed third parties drive the vehicle.
      • Helmets & Safety: Helmets are mandatory and must be worn at all times. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden.

      4. Damage, Theft, and Insurance

      • Wear and Tear vs. Damage: Normal mechanical wear (like brake pads or tire treads over time) is covered by the shop, but physical damage, broken plastics, bent frames, or flat tires caused by the renter are charged to the customer.
      • Fuel Policy: Motorized bikes are usually provided with a full (or partial) tank of petrol and are expected to be returned with the same fuel level.
      • Loss or Theft: You are financially liable if the bike is stolen or totaled. For theft claims to activate any provider insurance (where applicable), you must generally produce the original key and an official police report within a tight window (e.g., 24 hours).
      • Lost Keys / Documents: Missing keys, helmets, phone mounts, or registration papers incur distinct replacement fees set by the shop.
